The DPDx is for Laboratory Diagnosis of Parasitic Diseases, Emphasizing Intestinal and Foodborne Parasites
This is part of an initiative to improve the diagnosis of parasitic diseases. This is the first edition of the DPDx, emphasizing Intestinal and Foodborne Parasites. It is intended to provide laboratorians with a training tool that will strengthen their ability to diagnose intestinal and foodborne parasites, and give them background information (life cycle, geographic distribution, treatment and prevention) about these parasites.
It consists of three main sections:
Summaries of parasitic diseases with over 100 species of parasites, including an image library and diagnostic procedures.
An interactive quiz with over 160 questions for self-assessment of skills.
Diagnostic manuals, a collection of classic CDC texts on intestinal parasites.

The DPDx also contains several short .AVI clips. These clips will automatically load into Internet Explorer. To view them on Netscape, you will need to download a plug-in capable of viewing .AVI movies, such as Apple Quicktime.
